The Goan Welfare Association (GWA), one of Qatar’s notable associations - under the leadership of president Simon D’Silva, is all set to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of World Goa Day 2024 on November 22 at Treffen House Hotel (Ex-Sofitel/Ex-Mercure Grand Hotel), Doha from 7 pm onwards.

Goan Welfare Association has been in the forefront in Qatar for more than two decades and will celebrate 25 Years of its existence in 2025.

World Goa Day celebration is an opportunity for everyone to dive into the state’s traditional roots and culture. The day was instituted to mark the anniversary of a momentous day in Goa’s history “ 20th of August 1992 “ when the Indian Parliament included Konkani in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution. That was the long-awaited day when Konkani got due recognition as an official language in India.

While the event will highlight Goan art, culture, traditions, language, music, costumes, etc, the theme of the event has been delicately thought out.

A parade reflecting Goa's culture, exhibiting talents and skills and enticing fashion enthusiasts with their interpretation of messages through a variety of presentations will be organised. It will display the real essence and identity of Goa, disclosed Goan Welfare Association’s president Simon D'Silva.

Performers Ryan N Naisa (Duo Live Band) - A combination of two artists hailing from Goa and rocking cities locally and internationally for more than 3 years will perform during the event. English, Konkani or Bollywood fusion, be it oldies right to the chart-topping songs. The Duo doesn’t stop to amaze the variety of clientele although popularly suited for corporates, weddings and festivals.

Ryan and Naisa are high on energy entertaining the audience, mesmerising performances and will capture the hearts of the crowd with soulful music, a definite one to remember.

DJ Nelson from Doha will provide hip-hop and some scintillating dancing numbers.

Event is powered by ORBIT Events and Marketing.
