When contacted to know what steps have been taken to tackle the poor illumination and corroded street lamps in Sanguem, Chairperson Naik said he took a round in all the wards of Sanguem and identified the age-old corroded non-functional street lamps which are on the verge of collapse.
“There are about 26 dangerous and useless street lamps which need to be removed before the monsoon arrives, as the strong winds might uproot them causing them to fall over on houses in the vicinity. There are live electricity wires near these lamps,” he added.
When asked what steps have been initiated to improve the situation, Naik said he will clear the non-functional street lamps and later the ones which need repairs will be repaired.
