Honey-trapped, Rs 20 lakh extorted by contract employee of his law firm

A brief two-day trip to Goa, ostensibly for Reiki healing of his bouts of depression, turned into a nightmare for a top Gujarat lawyer from Ahmedabad.
Lured by a woman who worked in his law chamber on a contract basis offering Reiki treatment, the lawyer came to Goa on a two-day trip where she secretly filmed him in compromising positions.
She later used the recordings to blackmail him and extorted Rs 20 lakh, including investment in her film production company and hush money to hide them from his wife.
A top national newspaper has reported the story from Ahmedabad without naming the lawyer and identifying the accused woman as merely ‘Ankita’.
According to the report, Ellisbridge Police have booked a case against her and launched an investigation.
The victim lawyer is recently married to his long-time live-in partner, while the accused got acquainted with him when he hired her at the request of a mutual friend after she failed to get a job with him following an interview in 2022, the report said.
At a time when the lawyer was going through depression due to some tensions with his partner, Ankita posed as a good Samaritan and offered to help him, claiming she knew about Reiki healing therapy.
During the so-called ‘treatment’, Ankita managed to convince the lawyer to come on a short trip to Goa to enhance the efficacy of the therapy, when she secretly photographed and filmed their moments together on beaches, in restaurants, and in hotel rooms, the report said.
Back in Gujarat, Ankita threatened to report their Goa trip to his wife when the lawyer reprimanded her at work for negligence. She then forced him to invest Rs 12.5 lakh in her film production firm — Creative Vibes Entertainment — and followed it up with more demands, even contacting his wife and revealing the Goa trip details when the lawyer refused to satisfy all her monetary demands.
She then demanded another Rs 15 lakh from the couple for not making the scandal public. Despite receiving up to Rs 20 lakh, Ankita continued with her scheme to extort money from the lawyer, who eventually filed the complaint at the Ellisbridge Police Station, sending shockwaves through Ahmedabad’s legal echelons.
