CANACONA
Three different groups on Tuesday lodged police complaints against Uday Bhembre at the Canacona police station, in connection with his comments on Chhatrapathi Shivaji Maharaj.

Complaints were filed by the Hindhvi Swaraj Sanghatan (HSS), Akhil Gomantak Kshatriya Maratha Samaj (AGKMS) and Shivsmarak Cultural and Sports Club (SCSC).

Accusing Bhembre of having a problem with Maratha Shivaji’s Samaj, Marathi language, Marathi Sahi, Shiv-Sahi and Marathi Sanskruti, the HSS accused Bhembre of derogatory utterances against Chhatrapathi Shivaji Maharaj.

HSS has demanded that the government should investigate the claims made by Bhembre against Chhatrapathi Shivaji Maharaj.

In their complaint, the HSS complained that Bhembre had damaged the image of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on social media and had committed offences under Sections 299, 302 and 356 of BNS, 2023.

The HSS reiterated its demand for strict action against Bhembre to prevent further circulation of such content and to ensure that no one misuses their platform to spread false and disrespectful narratives about historical heroes.

Another group Shivsmarak Cultural and Sports Club, Chaudi, also filed a police complaint against Bhembre for offensive remarks against Shivaji Maharaj, and asked all Shiv Premis to join them to file the complaint with Canacona police.

The SCSC claimed that the highly inappropriate, illogical and disrespectful statements by Uday Bhembre against Shivaji Maharaj had hurt the sentiments of Shiv Premis (devotees and followers of Shivaji Maharaj) and requested that appropriate and strict action be taken against Bhembre for his misconduct and that, he publicly retracts his statements.

The Akhil Gomantak Kshratriya Maratha Samaj also filed a complaint against Bhembre on behalf of Maratha Samaj Sanghatana.
