The second spell of the five-day sitting of the assembly will commence from today (Monday). The session will continue till February 7 wherein the state budget for the year will also be presented by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
Earlier, a one-day sitting of the same session was held on January 7.
Like the previous session, this session too will be paperless as most of the questions have been uploaded online. Apart from the presentation of the state budget, the opposition has planned to raise issues like the Citizenship Amendment Act and the Mhadei river water imbroglio.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will table the report of the Comptroller Auditor General for the year 2019-20.
Opposition Congress, MGP, Goa Forward and independent MLAs have decided to jointly corner the government on burning issues like CAA, Mhadei, unemployment and weak financial position of the state.
In tyhe 40-member member assembly, the Congress has five legislators, GFP three, MGP one and one independent MLA Rohan Khaunte.
The opposition leader Digambar Kamat said that they will raise issues such as Mhadei, CAA, drugs, law and order, unemployment, bad finances. “We will demand detailed discussions on the issues to find solutions.”
Vijai Sardesai, president of Goa Forward party has
said that a united opposition would demand a detailed discussion on the issue of Citizenship Amendment Act as well as the Mhadei water diversion issue and issues related to agriculture.
Chief Minister has said that the thrust of the Budget would be on rural development and sustainable development. Many bills such as Goa private university bill will also be tabled during the session.
