7 held, offence booked for poll code violation in Tivim

Mapusa Police arrested seven persons for allegedly trying to install benches at a public place in Tivim and booked an offence against unknown persons for violation of the model code of conduct on Thursday evening.

After receiving information, the executive magistrate, Flying Squad, 
Tivim, Prakash Lodwal rushed to Tova-vaddo, Chicalim in Tivim constituency and found some workers fixing some benches in public place.  
The magistrate along with the police stopped the work and took the workers to Mapusa Police station.  
The contractor who had employed the workers refused to disclose the name who had instructed him to do the job.  
Later based on the complaint of the magistrate, police booked an offence against unknown persons for violation of the model code of conduct.  
Police also arrested the seven workers including the contractor under Sections 447, 171 H, 188 of the IPC and later released.  
Police also seized four benches that 
the workers were about to fix in the area. 
PSI Yogesh Gadkar is investigating the case.
