70-yr-old commits suicide
MAPUSA: A 70-year-old woman from Gaunsawaddo-Mapusa allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the Tar river at Mapusa on Tuesday.
According to Mapusa Police, the incident occurred at about 7.30 pm where Shrimati Arlekar jumped into the Tar river near the Ganesh immersion site.
Police further informed that Arlekar drowned and her body was washed towards the other side of the river.
Mapusa Police and Mapusa fire fighters rushed to the site and fished out the body from the marshy area of mangroves.
Mapusa Police referred the body at GMC Hospital in Bambolim for autopsy.
