In a shocking incident, a 50-year-old man has been arrested on charges of raping an 90-year-old woman at her home in Tivim.
According to Colvale police, the incident took place on Thursday night and Friday morning, when the accused was aware that the woman lived alone in the house and there were no houses around her home.
At about 10.30 am on Friday morning, the victim’s daughter went to the house to give her breakfast, when she noticed the accused, who was known to her, taking some fruit from the house.
The victim later narrated the incident to her daughter, who lodged a complaint with Colvale police.
Acting on the complaint, the police was on the lookout of the accused on Friday and arrested him in Tivim in the early hours of Saturday. He was produced before a Mapusa court and was remanded to four days in police custody. Further investigation is being conducted by Colvale police under the guidance of Police Inspector Sanjit Kandolkar.
