Benaulim Assembly incharge and Vice President of Aam Aadmi Party-Goa Capt Venzy Viegas not only celebrated Diwali at an orphanage but also gifted it and two old-age homes in Benaulim free medical check facilities for a year.

In a press release, AAP stated that the three institutes with which the Benaulim unit of AAP signed an agreement for a year (November 2021 - October 2022) includes: Little Heaven Orphanage, Dr Rafael Old Age Home and Divine Providence Old Age Home.

Speaking about the initiative, Capt Venzy Viegas said that the thought occurred to him when he learnt of the caretakers' plight while seeking medical help for the children who had fallen sick in October.

"How many times should the sisters at the orphanage knock at the doors for medical help? It's time to end this 'paaye podpachyo' (fall on one's feet) system and ensure that the children and senior citizens are not left to the mercy of any politicians for any help," he said.
