ASSURES 80% JOB QUOTA FOR GOANS IN PVT SECTOR; Rs 3000 PER MONTH FOR ALL UNEMPLOYED; RS 5000 PER FOR MONTH MINING & TOURISM AFFECTED

AAP dishes out promises of jobs, doles to Goans

MAPUSA
It rained jobs and doles on a relative wet day on Tuesday, as Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal raised the poll pitch in the State by promising one job to every Goan household, 80 percent reservation of jobs for Goans in private sector and doles for the unemployed and mining and tourism-affected families.

Kejriwal also assured to set up a skill university on the lines of the new university in Delhi to prepare the youth for jobs.

The Delhi CM informed that every unemployed youth will get Rs 3,000 per month until he or she is gainfully employed and every tourism and mining-affected family whose business has been affected due to the pandemic and mining ban respectively will get Rs 5,000 per month until their business is restored.

“In Goa government jobs are cornered by political workers and those who pay bribes. We will stop this when we come to power. We will ensure that every household gets a government job and until a person is not gainfully employed he will get Rs 3,000 per month. Mein jho kehta hun, voh karta hu (I fulfill, what I promise),” Kejriwal said, evoking a spontaneous roar amongst the party supporters in the packed hall in Mapusa.

Goa convenor, Rahul Mhambre, senior vice president, Mahadev Naik, vice president, Pratima Coutinho and leaders Cecille Rodrigues, Venzy Viegas and others shared the dais with the Delhi CM.

Capitalizing on the high unemployment rate in the State, the Delhi CM promised to reserve 80 per cent of the jobs in the private sector to Goans.

“Goa’s youth are disturbed because they don’t have jobs. We will bring a law to reserve 80 per cent of the jobs in the private sector for Goans. We understand certain industries require skilled personnel and that is why 20 per cent of the jobs have been reserved for such skilled labour,” he said.

Conscious of the problems faced by people who lost jobs due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and the mining ban in the State, the AAP national convenor said every tourism and mining dependent household will be provided Rs 5,000 per month until their businesses are restored.

“We have to create job opportunities in Goa. It can be done only if there is a sincere government at the helm. If the intention is clear, we can do it,” Kejriwal said.

He said the Goa government had said that 50 per cent of Goan youth were unemployed because they do not have the requisite skills.

“Who will give them skills? The government has to prepare them and ensure they get jobs. We will come up with a skill university on the lines of the new university in Delhi,” the Delhi CM said.

“I know people will say where will the jobs come from? We have elaborate plans for Goa. We will start schools, hospitals and village clinics. We will repair roads and start doorstep delivery. This needs manpower. We will employ this manpower in government. We will start mining while tourism has infinite opportunities,” he added.

He further said the Delhi government worked honestly and stopped corruption and that is why the AAP government could give people free power.

“We will do it in Goa too. Goa is a beautiful state and its people are beautiful too. God gave Goa everything “ rivers, forests, mountains. It is such a beautiful State but political parties and politicians have ripped it off. Anyone who got a chance looted Goa and everyone is waiting for a chance to loot. This loot needs to stop,” he said.
