AAP minister Hussain says Goa is ‘notorious’ for its politicians jumping to other parties

PANAJI
Aam Aadmi Party cabinet minister Imran Hussain held public meetings in Shiroda, Cuncolim and Navelim on Sunday.

Hussain stated that Goa gained freedom from Portuguese in 1961, but its people continued to be victimized by corruption in politics.

He took a dig at Congress over the resignation of the party MLAs ahead of the Goa Assembly polls, saying that while 15 legislators have been sold the “last stock” of two is available with a “heavy discount”.

He said, “Among the 17 Congress MLAs elected in Goa in 2017, 15 have been sold, and only two remaining. These are the last stock. A heavy discount applies to this stock, so anyone who wishes to take the last stock can do so. A new batch of MLAs will arrive in March next year, after the election”.

“Goa state is ‘notorious’ for politicians jumping to other parties. However, AAP is the only party in the state which gives a guarantee that its leader will not defect. AAP candidates will sign legal affidavits mentioning that they’ll not quit party. The Arvind Kejriwal-led party has taken this decision to stem defections,” he said.

He added, “Arvind Kejriwal is the only politician in India who practices honest politics. He proves it by doing what he says. In Delhi, all the promises he made before the formation of the government have been fulfilled. Because of this, the people voted for the AAP and helped the AAP form the government”.

He further said, “Currently, 34 lakh people in Delhi receive zero electricity bills. Kejriwal government built mohalla clinics throughout Delhi where 250 types of health tests are offered for free and 2,80,000 CCTV cameras have been installed for women’s safety.

The AAP set up WiFi across Delhi during the pandemic when education was moving online. The Kejriwal government provided free ration to lakhs of people and offered Rs.5000 assistance to taxi-auto drivers, carpenters, etc.”

He added, “Unlike the BJP, Kejriwal’s government is not a jumla government.  Kejriwal is a man of words. Give AAP a chance to change the state for the better”.
