PANAJI: Gearing up to 2027 State assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has decided to contest the upcoming rural and urban body elections in the State.
AAP Delhi MLA and former Chief Minister Atishi Marlena is in Goa on a day-long visit. During her visit, she inaugurated the new South Goa party office in Navelim and later held meetings with the State party leaders.
Speaking to media persons at the sidelines, Atishi said that AAP will definately contest the 2027 elections.
"But before that, the party will contest Zilla Panchayat, and Municipality elections in Goa on its own," she said.
Earlier in the day, the AAP leader said that the people of Goa has widely accepted the party and wants party to further expand.
The AAP has two MLAs, Venzy Viegas (Benaulim) and Cruz Silva (Velim), in the state assembly.
This was Atishi’s first visit to the coastal state after the party’s debacle in the Delhi elections. She was the party’s Goa in-charge during the 2022 elections.
