Aam Aadmi Party has condemned what it termed as the illogical and arbitrary decisions of Ministry of Environment and Forest which transfer the jurisdiction of National Green Tribunal for Goa from Pune to Delhi and has demanded its immediate rollback.
In a statement released to the media, the AAP has said that the order is clearly a move of the NDA government to infringe on the independent functioning of the judicial arm of the ‘State' and to put up hurdles for the vibrant Green warriors of Goa.
"The order is apparently prompted largely by the successful efforts of Goa's anti-coal pollution activists, who put paid to the expansionist plans of MPT by the NDA government's blue-eyed corporate group Adanis, during the recent public hearings," the AAP said. AAP has questioned the eerie silence of the BJP's coalition partner Goa Forward and its Goem, Goemkar, Goemkarponn espousing leader Vijay
Sardesai.
"Isn't this draconian decision adversely affecting Goem, Goemkar and Goemkarponn, or is Goa's environment outside the purview of this slogan? Is Goa Forward readying itself to take yet another U-turn after its faux pas on the nationalisation of Goa's rivers?" Valmiki Naik asked.
"Goa's green activists deserve encouragement, not burdens, to ensure that our State's fragile environment and natural resources are not left in the hands of these shenanigans of corrupt politics who influenced the MoEF to take the decision," Naik said.
The party has congratulated the various environmental groups, organisations and activists who have closed ranks to fight the MoEF order and assures them all support in the interest of Goa's future which is under continuous threat from the politician-business nexus.
