The Archdiocesan Board of Education (ABE) on Friday honoured 107 educators from across Goa for over three decades in their profession during the All Goa Institutions’ Day, which brought together educators and students committed to fostering hope and societal progress through education.
The event, which was organised under the theme ‘Educating for Hope and Transformation’ was graced by the presence of Fr Pedro Rodrigues, Provincial of the Goa Jesuit Province, as chief guest, while Archbishop of Goa and President of ABE Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrao presided over the proceedings.
Among the guests were Auxiliary Bishop Simiao Purificacào Fernandes, Fr Henry Falcao (Episcopal Vicar), Fr Jesus Rodrigues (Secretary of DSE), Fr Anand D. Souza (ABE vice president), Fr Tony Alemao (ABE secretary), Laura Braganza (ABE treasurer), and Aurora D’Souza (Programme Coordinator).
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Fr Anand, setting the tone for a day dedicated to celebration, reflection, and renewal. A Prayer Dance performed by students of St Mary’s of the Angels Convent High School, Chinchinim, was followed by a prayer service.
Fr Tony presented the annual report, highlighting the milestones achieved and the ongoing commitment to excellence in education.
A momentous highlight was the felicitation of 107 educators from across Goa, each having dedicated over three decades to nurturing young minds and shaping futures. Cardinal Ferrao expressed deep appreciation for their dedication and exemplary service.
On the occasion, the ABE souvenir was officially launched, symbolising the collective effort and spirit of the educational community.
In his address, Fr Rodrigues emphasised that societal transformation begins with humane values, urging all to contribute towards building a more compassionate and hopeful society.
The theme song, composed by Aurora Dsouza, was performed by students of Rosary High School, Navelim,.
The programme concluded with a display of patriotism as students of St Theresa High School, Raia, performed the National Anthem with their brass band.
