The Health Department has moved a proposal to the government for a 'Tikka Utsav 2.0' owing to the abysmally low response from people for the 'booster' dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.With as many as 96,000 senior citizens yet to report for the booster dose, officials of the health department are worried that the situation could get serious in the event of the predicted fourth wave.
The proposal for 'Tikka Utsav 2.0' involves a campaign where teams will be dispatched door-to-door to administer the booster dose, particularly to the senior citizens, DHS sources said.
Also, health centres which used to administer the booster dose only once a week on Thursdays, will under the new plan vaccinate three days a week -- Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The booster dose will continue to be free for senior citizens.
Meanwhile, the active caseload of Covid-19 cases in Goa touched 100 on Thursday with 18 fresh cases reported.
The daily health bulletin said, with 18 new cases and 15 recoveries recorded on Thursday, Goa's active Covid-19 caseload stands at 101 and the positivity rate is 2.49 %.
