A Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) court on Thursday remanded the main accused in the Nachinola road rage stabbing case to seven days of police custody, while granting two days police custody to the accused arrested for allegedly posting offensive content on social media targeting Shri Swami Samarth.

In the Nachinola case, Mapusa Police produced the main accused before the court after his arrest. Police sought custody to further investigate the violent road rage incident, which had sparked public outrage after CCTV footage of the attack went viral on social media.

The victim had alleged that he was assaulted by a group of men during the incident. Another accused in the case had been arrested earlier.

In the separate case, the accused arrested by Anjuna Police for allegedly uploading objectionable social media posts related to Shri Swami Samarth was remanded to two days of police custody.

Police informed the court that custodial interrogation was necessary to investigate the origin of the posts and ascertain whether others were involved.

Both accused were produced before the JMFC court, which passed the respective remand orders after hearing the investigating agencies.
