The dispute between the management and workers of Automobile Corporation of Goa Ltd (ACGL) at Bhuipal-Sattari which has been simmering for the last two years is likely to flare up once again.
After a month-long agitation, the workers have decided to go on an indefinite strike at a meeting in the company's premises on Tuesday and they have decided to issue a notice on Wednesday.
The workers have been accusing the management of ignoring their demands and had gone on a strike in October 2021 and a number of leaders from the Congress, Shiv Sena, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena Workers' Union and Konkan Railway Workers' Union had pledged their support to the strike.
The strike, however, was later called off amid reports that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant would intervene in the matter.
The workers met on Tuesday and they decided to resort to another strike, after serving a notice on Wednesday.
A second strike within three months is likely to seriously affect operations at the ACGL, which has been a significant industry in Sattari.
The company manufactures sheet metal components, assemblies and bus coaches at its factories situated at villages Honda and Bhuimpal, with a large number of its workforce located in Sattari and surrounding talukas.
