A group of activists have rallied behind Nitin Nagvenkar, a resident of Fatorda after he was allegedly assaulted for questioning the nuisance created near a wholesale liquor outlet.

The activists demanded that the Excise Department should immediately take action against the wholesale liquor outlet if open drinking is taking place outside the shop.

Nitin had alleged that people, who drink near the wholesale liquor outlet, create nuisance by answering nature’s call near a Chapel as well as near Dambab Talli.

Activist Sanjay Barde pointed out that the Excise Department should have initiated action against the wholesale liquor outlet when people are drinking outside the shop in violation of the law. “The victim has been assaulted after he questioned the owner for the nuisance created near the places of worship. The police should initiate action against the accused,” he said.
