Several activists gathered at Azad Maidan on Saturday to condemn the spray attack on Munnalal Halwai as also to condemn the government over its failures on all fronts, including law and order.
Opining that Azad Maidan is a sacred ground where memories of the freedom fighters resound all over, the activists informed that such attacks on those seeking justice will not be tolerated.
Among the activists included Xencor Polgi, Mahesh Naik, John Nazareth, Savio Coutinho, Sayyad Iftiyaz, Jayesh Shetgaonkar, Prashant Chari, Tara Kerkar and others.
Polgi said whatever happened was unfortunate and such dadagiri will not be tolerated.
“Azad Maidan is a holy ground where people come to seek justice and if anybody is aggrieved they too should use the platform to redress their grievances rather than resorting to such dastardly act,” Polgi added while targeting the government for its failure to maintain law and order in the State.
Mahesh Naik said that Azad Maidan is the people’s court and there is no place for such hooliganism.
“Such attacks cannot be tolerated at a place where the memories of the freedom fighters live,” Naik added.
On his part, Savio Coutinho said activists address the reporters at Azad Maidan to expose the misdeeds. “However, if anybody gets hurt by any statements then they should use democratic means to redress the same and not resort to violence,” Coutinho appealed.
Meanwhile, the activists also targeted the government on the rise in crimes, prostitution, lawlessness, land grab, and various other issues.
