After waste disposal drive, focus shifts to poultry workers’ health

MARGAO
After launching an initiative last year for the safe collection and disposal of chicken waste, the All Goa Poultry Shopkeepers Association has announced a new programme to conduct health camps for workers employed at chicken stalls across the State.

The Association has also urged customers and members of the public to enquire about waste disposal practices and the health status of workers at poultry outlets.

Addressing the media, Association president Prisco Sequeira said the health camps will be held across all talukas, beginning with the first camp at the BPS Club premises on June 15.

He said the initiative aims to ensure that workers meet the health standards prescribed by the Health Department for the issuance of health cards. Sequeira added that the Association plans to continue the programme regularly in the interest of both workers and consumers visiting chicken stalls.
