Agonda panchayat stopped ongoing work at a construction site, after receiving a complaint that the work continued unabated despite its stop–work order.
In a notice dated October 1, the Agonda panchayat had directed the party concerned to stop the illegal construction and report compliance within 7 days with necessary documents such as construction licence, NOC, ownership documents of the property.
However, the complainant alleged that construction work had neither stopped nor was any compliance given to the panchayat. He claimed that work had been progressing with great speed.
The Agonda panchayat accordingly fixed a site inspection, and during the site inspection noticed the ongoing construction work at the site.
During inspection Sarpanch Nilesh Pagi, ward panch Fatima Rodrigues, Panchayat Secretary Amol K Naik Gaunkar along with the complainant were present.
Fernandes informed that in the absence of the property owner, the panchayat directed the concerned present at the site to stop work.
