AH, WHAT A RELIEF!

Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government sounded the LS poll bugle loud and clear in the Interim Budget 2019-20 presented by Finance Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday. Announcing a host of welfare schemes for the poor farmers, those in the unorganised sectors and income tax sops for the middle class, Goyal made it clear that the government is going all out to secure its electoral fortunes

FOR SALARIED CLASS  

No tax for income up to  

Rs 5,00,000  

Standard deduction now  Rs 50,000  

Gratuity limit increased to Rs 30,00,000   

No tax with investments on 

Rs 6,50,000  


 EDUCATION

Rs 93,847.64 cr allocated 

An increase of over 10 per cent from the last allocation. 

Rs 37,461.01 cr allocated for higher education, Rs 56,386.63 cr has been earmarked for school education


JAI KISAN

Annual cash dole of   

Rs 6,000  

Under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, Rs 6000 rupees per year for each  farmer, in three installments, to be transferred directly to farmers’  bank accounts, for farmers with less than 2 hectares land holding.   


1 There  is no hike in passenger fare and freight charges in the Interim Budget  announced by FM Piyush Goyal, which also saw an  allocation of Rs 64,587 crore and the highest ever capital expenditure  of Rs 1.58 lakh crore for the national transporter


2 In the budget, funds of Rs 7,255 crore have been allocated for  construction of new lines, Rs 2,200 crore for gauge conversion, Rs 700  crore for doubling, Rs 6,114.82 crore for rolling stock and Rs 1,750  crore for signalling and telecom
