The Congress party, in an attempt to woo the ST community, insisted that an ST community leader should be given a chance as Chief Minister of the State. Goa desk In charge of Congress Manikrao Thackeray claimed if voted to power, the party will ensure this turns into a reality.
" ST community leaders should get the opportunity to become CM of Goa. We are supporting it," he said while addressing a press conference in the party headquarters in Panaji today.
He further stated that if voted to power at the Centre and Goa, the party will resolve issues of the ST community and ensure funds allocated in the budget are used for their welfare.
Taking a potshot at the BJP, Thackeray said that the BJP government failed to give justice to the ST community.
GPCC President Amit Patkar, also present at the briefing, also assured that ST areas will be notified after Congress forms government.
