Goa’s Lokayukta, Justice (Retd) P K Misra, issued a notice to ailing Power Minister Pandurang Madkaikar and asked for his comments on the complaint filed by social activist Adv Aires Rodrigues alleging possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Justice Misra, who heard Rodrigues’ complaint on Thursday, also issued notices to Chief Secretary Dharmendra Sharma, head of the Vigilance department, and the Anti-Corruption Branch Superintendent of Police and fixed the matter for further preliminary enquiry on September 10.
Photocopies of two files, one from the ACB and another from the law department, were retained by the Lokayukta in sealed cover and the originals were returned to the respective departments, records of the proceedings reveal.
Adv Rodrigues had filed the complaint before the Lokayukta on June 7 accusing the ACB of failing to register an FIR following his May 9 complaint.
He also sought that the Lokayukta call for the records of the action taken by the ACB on his complaint which accuses the minister of constructing a plush bungalow at Old Goa worth crores of rupees beyond his known sources of income.
He has also relied on the I-T returns filed by Madkaikar and his wife Janita for the assessment year 2015-16.
