Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar’s warning that the department would come down heavily on migrant vendors seems to have had no takers at least on the world-famous Colva beach.
Dozens of migrant vendors made brisk business right on the beach, only throwing up questions whether the Tourism Minister’s warning was only meant for public consumption, with the ground reality looking totally different.
Every time the Tourism Minister is reminded of the presence of migrant vendors on the beach belt, he loses no time in sending out a warning that the tourism department and the police would come down heavily on vendors on the beach belt.
The ground reality, however, is totally different. One would come across the migrant vendors on the world-famous beach going about their business without any problem.
In fact, contrary to the warnings issued by the minister, the vendors literally enjoy a field day, with no agency around to keep the them at bay.
