Adona MLA Carlos Ferreira has reported that his Instagram account was hacked by unidentified individuals who used the platform to spread false information and solicit money from unsuspecting users.
In a statement, Ferreira revealed that the hackers had been circulating misleading messages through his account, urging people to send money.
The situation came to light when a friend of the MLA allegedly received a call from the suspect behind the fake account, asking for money via Google Pay.
“Anyone can fall into the trap of such criminals who have created fake accounts in their name,” Ferreira warned, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation.
The MLA has urged the public not to fall for these scams and to refrain from sending money to anyone claiming to represent him or using his name on social media.
Ferreira also posted a message on social media, asking anyone who receives such calls to contact him directly as soon as possible.
Ferreira has stated that the incident will be reported to Cybercrime authorities for further investigation.
