All eyes focused on Covid vaccine drive at Hospicio, Margao

Names of hundreds of health care workersattached to Hospicio and ESI hospital have been submitted for the Covid vaccinationdrive, but doctors and Hospicio authorities are clueless how many of thesehealth care workers will turn up for the vaccination, beginning from January16.

Hospicio authorities have given thenames of over 500-odd Hospicio health workers, comprising of 110 doctors, 185nurses, besides other staff for the vaccination drive.

Similarly, ESI hospital, Margao hassubmitted the names of over 200-odd staff, including doctors and paramedics forthe vaccination.

Senior officials, however, say that theyare clueless whether all the doctors and the para-medics will turn up for theexercise.

Since the vaccination is app-driven,even officials of the major government hospital in South Goa have no idea whowill get the message to come for the vaccination.

“Whether it will be the doctors ornurses or the other para-medical staff who will be called for the vaccination,we have no knowledge at all. It’s only after the person gets a message that heor she will have to line up at the designated hospital to receive the dose,”informed a senior official.

“The official added:  Who will get the call, we do not know sincethe system is all app-driven. We have no idea whether the doctors or theparamedics will be called first to take the first dose of vaccine”.

With doubts being cast in several quartersover the efficacy of the vaccine, especially with respect to the side effects,all eyes are focused on the vaccination drive, whether all the health careworkers will turn up for the vaccination as and when called via message.

As per the guidelines laid down by theauthorities, around 100 persons will be vaccinated at the Hospicio hospitalevery day, between 9 am to 5 pm.


Hospicio gears up for much-awaitedvaccination drive

MARGAO: Hospicio appears all geared up for the Covid vaccination exercisein the hospital, with the authorities putting the laid down mechanism in placefor the much-awaited vaccination drive, beginning from January 16.

Hospicio has appointed the designatedfemale designator, who will be entrusted the task of vaccinating around 100persons a day, from January 16.

Around three teams, each comprising offive officials, have been designated by Hospicio for the massive exercise asper the uniform guidelines.

“The vaccination will be app-driven,meaning all details are required to be fed in the app right till the stage ofvaccination”, a doctor informed.

Set up at the paediatric ward, Hospicioauthorities have decided to earmark space for persons taking the dose to waitat the centre for half an hour as per the guidelines.

“All persons who take the Covid vaccinedose are required to wait in a room to check for any adverse reaction or sideeffects. Only after the half-hour period, will the person be allowed to leavethe centre”, sources said.
