BELAGAVI :

Aggrieved by the heavily dilapidated stretch of the Belagavi- Goa road via Amboli citizens from Belagavi taluka have organised a massive Rasta Roko agitation on November 11. The agitation will be held at the Uchgaon Cross on the Goa- Belagavi road via Amboli-Chandgad.

About 12 kms of the stretch of the state highway from Belagavi- Bachi has been damaged with huge potholes. The road has also become dusty due to which the commuters are facing huge inconvenience. At a meeting that was convened today former MLA Manohar Kinekar said that despite reminders to the authorities and the local MLA no action has been initiated.

“MLA Laxmi Hebbalkar who had promised to take up the repairs of the road soon after the monsoon seems to have forgotten her promise. Large number of commuters from Goa and Konkan travel to Belagavi by this road. Commuters especially the two wheeler riders are facing huge inconvenience due to the damaged road,” an irritated leader alleged.

Leaders of the Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti and other outfits are going around in the villages in Belagavi taluka urging villagers to take part in the agitation in large numbers. “Unless and until we stage a strong agitation the authorities will not awaken,” Kinekar said urging people to take part in the Rasta Roko agitation on November 11 at 11 am.
