Two more government premises will now be used to generate electricity harvesting solar energy. The generated electricity will be directly supplied to a power grid.

Goa Energy Development Agency (GEDA) has initiated the process to set up a solar rooftop through an agency that will maintain the solar rooftop plant for 5 years.

One power grid-connected solar plant of 40 kW will be set up at the Secretariat building in Porvorim, while the other 22.5 kW plant has been proposed at the Pedne municipal waste treatment plant and municipal premises.

GEDA has already tendered and invited bids from agencies to set up the plants and maintain them for 5 years.

The project of installation of power grid-connected 89.8 kW solar plant at District Court Margao, civil and criminal courts at Mayem, Quepem, Sanguem, Canacona, Vasco and Judicial quarters Mayem is in the process.

A 14 kW solar plant at GEDA office Patto and Quepem primary health centre building is also in process.

GEDA has already installed many solar rooftop power grid plants.

Many government colleges and ITIs have such rooftop plants.

Also, there are plans to utilise barren land and dam surfaces to harness solar power.
