MV Lucky Seven casino vessel continues to remain grounded at the Miramar beach following another failed attempt by AMS Marine LLC, Egypt, to tow it out on Tuesday.
Captain James Braganza of the Captain of Ports informed that another attempt will be made in the first week of October to take the vessel out of Miramar waters.
Explaining the hurdles faced on Tuesday, Braganza stated, "The tide was not very suitable today. We need some water beneath the vessel which does not exist at the moment. Despite unfavourable conditions we used three tugs to try to pull the vessel but ended up without much success today. The vessel is approximately eight to 10 meters closer towards the river channel."
He further said that the salvors will make another attempt between October 4 and 7, when the conditions are likely to be favourable.
Referring to the submission of the casino company Golden Globe Hotels Pvt Ltd and the salvaging company before the High Court assuring removal of the vessel from Miramar by September 27, Braganza said that the owners and the salvage team will now have to inform the High Court about the attempts made by them to tow the vessel out of Miramar.
"On Wednesday, the salvors will tell the High Court about the attempt they made and it is up to the court to decide thereafter," he stated.
Listing the matter for orders on September 27, High Court judges Gautam Patel and Nutan Sardessai had previously ordered both the state government and the vessel owner to file a report "as to where the vessel will be moved, how, and within what time, away from Panjim anchorage."
The owners had expressed the need for an underwater survey to assess the extent of damage to the vessel's hull. The survey was expected to take between four and seven days, a period which concludes on Wednesday.
