Another youth drowns at Mhovacho Guno

Close on the heels of a drowning at Mhovacho Guno rivulet in Sattari, a popular picnic spot in Sonal, another person met a watery grave, while another was rescued at the rnsame spot.

According to Valpoi police, the incident took place about at about 10 am when three youth -- Gaurish Barve (22) of Sakhali, Praveen Gadgil (21) of Dhave-Sattari and Mayuresh Bhat (22) of Madhalawad-Poriem -- had gone to Mhovacho Guno for a picnic.   
Police said Mayuresh, who was a capable swimmer entered the river first, while the other two followed later. Within a short while, both Gaurish and Praveen began to struggle in the water. Mayuresh managed to rescue Praveen with the help of locals, but could not save Gaurish.   
Praveen was first moved to the Sakhali Primary Heath Centre and later shifted to the GMC hospital. The body of Gaurish was retrieved from the river and police later sent the body to GMC for an autopsy. PSI Gaurish Malik investigated the case under the supervision of Police Inspector Deepak Pednekar.   
Earlier on May 14, Sanket Sawant (27) of Manaswada-Kundaim had also drowned at the same spot prompting PI Pednekar to request the public to exercise caution while swimming.   
According to locals, this is the tenth case in the last five years and they have appealed to authorities to take steps to prevent drownings at 
the popular picnic spot in Sattari taluka.

Now, Bastora locals see red over delimitation of wards
