The State government will soon launch a multi-mode transport aggregator (app) with bus, taxi, rickshaw and motorcycle pilot options on it.
Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho said he expects the app to be launched “within the next 10 days”.
“Multiple modes of transport will be made available to people through the app, including taxis, electric buses, prepaid taxis, rent-a-car taxis and also the choice of rickshaws or motorcycle pilots for last mile connectivity,” Godinho said.
“This is the new thing that we are introducing,” he said, adding that that as of now the preferred service provider is GoaMiles but other service providers are also welcome to develop the app.
GoaMiles is surviving despite adversities because of high public demand, the transport minister claimed.
Meanwhile, Godinho claimed that if taxi operators continue to disallow cab aggregators to operate from the Dabolim airport, passenger traffic will get diverted once Mopa airport becomes operational.
“Mopa Airport is a private airport. They are going to have all types of taxis including Ola, Uber, GoaMiles, etc,” Godinho said.
“People will stop using Dabolim airport and taxi operators will be the losers,” he said, adding that he has had discussions with the taxi associations to explain the situation to them.
