A month and half after he was mercilessly beaten up by the Cuncolim police  at the Assolna police outpost, victim Clint Rebello on Thursday has  lodged a formal complaint with the police with the plea to register an  FIR against the five policemen including PSI Mahesh S Velip.

The five  policemen, including PSI Mahesh S Velip, who were placed under  suspension immediately after the incident, are still under suspension.

In  his complaint, Clint has urged Cuncolim Police Inspector, Sudesh Naik  to register FIR against PSI Mahesh S Velip and police constables  Upendra U Upaskar, Sandeep R Konkre, Gitesh G Gaonkar and PC/driver  Chandru K Gaonkar for mercilessly and brutally assaulting/torturing him  with belts, slaps, kicks, blows causing serious injuries on his body. He  has alleged in his complaint that the five policemen had threatened him  with dire consequences if he reported the assault incident to the police  superiors, further threatening to fabricate false case and arrest him.

Clint  mentioned in his complaint how PSI Mahesh Velip, without conducting any  inquiry, slapped him while he was sitting in the car on the driver’s  seat and later pulled out the keys and dragged him out of the vehicle  after he questioned the PSI for slapping him.

At the Assolna police  outpost, Clint recalled that he was mercilessly beaten up by the five  policemen with a leather belt, slaps, blows and kicks, resulting in  serious injuries on his body.

The complainant stated that PSI Mahesh S  Velip had warned him while in the police van not to report the assault  to any of the superiors, threatening to fabricate a false case against him.

When  The Goan called upon Cuncolim PI Sudesh Naik to shed light on the  complaint lodged by victim Clint, he said no FIR has been registered  till date since the police are required to comply with the set  procedure. “As per the procedure, the police has to first obtain  sanction from the department to register an FIR against the police. I  will set the process in motion,” PI Sudesh informed.
