The Assolna gram sabha on Sunday has resolved to carry out revision of tax after assessment of houses.
The gram has also resolved to insist on payment of one month’s rent to the panchayat body by the landlords.
At the meeting chaired by Sarpanch Xavier Almeida, the panchayat has decided to levy minimum Rs 100 house tax on all the old houses in the village after an assessment. “The panchayat will carry out the house tax assessment of all the houses. It has been decided to fix a minimum house tax of Rs 100 on all the existing houses. The gram sabha has given the approval to charge the house tax based on the area of the premises,” the Sarpanch said.
Saying that the panchayat has identified the landlords who have leased out their premises to the tenants, the sarpanch pointed out that the gram sabha has decided to insist on one month’s rent for the panchayat body. These decisions will be implemented from the next financial year, he added.
The issue of double-parking of vehicles along the ferry road came up for discussions, with members complaining that vehicular parking has started on the road with the reopening of the restaurants.
The gram sabha told the panchayat to convene a joint meeting of the panchayat, police and the restaurant owners to discuss the problems arising out of double parking of vehicles on the ferry road.
Members also demanded that the restaurants stick to the excise timings.
The gram sabha accorded its approval to make a provision of Rs 10,000 for the poor and needy in the village, who have been facing difficulties in times of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The meet also took note of the blockage of water moving under the Assolna bridge.
