At 172 inches, 40% excess rain this season in State

This year from June 1 to till date Goa has recorded the highest 171.87-inch rainfall. Pernem has recorded the highest rainfall.

In the post-monsoon spell from October 1 to 17 October 161.9 inch rainfall has been recorded while the monsoon spell from June 1 to September 30 has recorded 165.5-inch rainfall. If the rain continues to pour in the next few days then the amount of rainfall will cross the previous highest mark.

This year rainfall is 40 per cent more than last year.

In the Bay of Bengal still, low pressure has been developed and due to this, a cyclone-like environment has been created which will result in more rainfall. It is expected that Goa will continue to receive rainfall till December due to these conditions.  

As per the prediction of the Meteorological Department, it is expected that Goa will again receive low rainfall from Monday.

The department has issued a warning to the fishermen not to venture in deep-sea as a low-pressure area has been developed in the coastal belt along with Gujarat to Goa. Unlike the last few years this year, Pernem has received more rainfall than Valpoi.
