Autopsy attributes Nana Patekar’s death to coronary artery disease

PANAJI

The autopsy report has confirmed that Padma Shri awardee actor Nana Patekar, 75, died of an acute myocardial infarction caused by coronary artery disease. A panel of doctors at Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim, classified the death as natural.

Panaji police, which initially registered a case of unnatural death, said the post-mortem examination attributed the death to ‘acute myocardial infarction consequent to left main coronary artery thrombosis secondary to atherosclerotic occlusive coronary artery disease.’

Patekar, who passed away around 5.20 am on Thursday, was living at his residence in Dona Paula. His body was shifted to GMC, Bambolim, where an inquest panchnama was conducted in the presence of panch witnesses and the actor’s nephew. A panel of doctors conducted the post-mortem examination the same day before handing over the body to the family for conducting final rites in Pune.
