MARGAO
Finally, the Margao Municipal Council Chairperson Pooja Naik has promised to rid the old fish market of the eyesore as the civic body is gearing up to resume baling of dry waste at the site.
The Chairperson along with MMC engineer, Surendra Gaonkar, descended on the site on Monday.
The Chairperson later told the media that baling of the dry waste would resume at the site once again from Tuesday. She said the operation was disrupted after the contractor had failed to construct a shed to cover the baling machines.
“We have set in motion the process to initiate action against the contractor for his failure to construct the shed,” she added.
To a question, she said the dry waste had accumulated at the old fish market site following the disruptions in inter-state transport on account of the pandemic.
Meanwhile, CO Agnelo Fernandes has informed that three of the four baling machines at Sonsodo have started functioning.
He pointed out another three baling machines will start operating from Tuesday, two at the SGPDA complex and one at the old fish market.
