Ban on swimming in South Goa water bodies to prevent drownings

 Panaji: Due to numerous drowning incidents in waterfalls, abandoned quarries, rivers, lakes, and other water bodies in South Goa, the district administration has imposed a ban on swimming in these areas. This measure aims to safeguard public safety.


District Magistrate Asvin Chandru A. has issued this order under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, 1973. The order takes immediate effect and will remain in place for 60 days unless lifted earlier.


Local police and administrative officers are instructed to enforce the ban strictly. Violating this order could result in penalties under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code and other applicable laws.
