Meghana's clean’ criminal history prompted the Court to grant her relief.
With Goa Police failing to produce material record to hold Meghana Kamat Sawardekar’s role in the fatal accident at Banastarim, Additional Sessions Judge Cholu Gauns granted her anticipatory bail today. Her ‘clean’ criminal history also prompted the Court to grant her relief.
“There is no material to hold that the applicant has any role in the alleged crime, as the respondents have produced nothing against applicant despite opportunity. There is nothing on record to show that the applicant has a past criminal record or that she has any conviction to her credit rendered by Court or of having previously undergone imprisonment…” reads the order.
On interim anticipatory bail since August 9, Meghana feared her arrest as several locals demanded action against her alleging she was driving the SUV on the fateful evening, August 6. Three persons were killed while others were grievously injured in the accident.
