Bank officials come in for praise

PANAJI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi publicly thanked bank officials who he said did a whole year’s work in one week over the last few days.

"I publicly thank all bank employees. The amount of work which they normally put in a year, they have worked more than that in the last one week," Modi said.

"I have seen social media reports where retired bank officials went to their respective banks offering their services. I want to congratulate the retired bank employees for their noble deeds", Modi said.

The Prime Minister also had a good word for the thousands of youngsters, who offered assistance to people in queues outside banks.

"I also congratulate youngsters who have been offering water, making arrangements to help senior citizens using their own money. The reason for this success is not Modi’s decision on November 8 alone, but for the fact that 125 crore Indians are working towards it, set aside a few lakh (who aren’t)," he said.
