The focus now shifts on withdrawal of forms on May 29, after which the final position on number of candidates in the fray will be finalized. Bardez has 33 village panchayats in all.
There were two objections raised before Returning Officer I, Dashrath Gawas, which was disposed of after hearing.
All nominations before Returning Officer II, Sandeep Gaude and Returning Officer III, Ranjeet Salgaonkar were cleared without any objections. RO III, Ranjeet Salgaonkar refused to accept the nomination of Dnyneswar Damodar Morajkar from ward 1 which was de-reserved by the High Court on Friday.
Salgoankar said that he received the candidate’s nomination at 3 pm beyond the stipulated time of 1 pm and besides, the candidate had failed to display the number of the ward he is contesting from on the nomination form. The candidate, however, said that he had sent his resignation at around 12.30 pm which is reflected on this Registered AD acknowledgement slip.
“The RO has rejected my nomination on technical grounds. I have no other alternative but to approach the HC again,” Morajkar said.
