If the BJP’s Vijay Sankalp rally will roll into Fatorda on November 19, to highlight the achievements of the BJP-led government in the State, local MLA Vijai Sardesai has decided to launch his election campaign and that of his Goa Forward Party from Fatorda, on November 14.
While the BJP is expected to show its strength from the government multipurpose grounds on November 19, Vijai’s rally has been also called at the very same venue on Monday and is expected to showcase his strength in the constituency.
During interaction with the media, the Fatorda MLA did not mince words when he disclosed plans to launch his election campaign for the 2017 Assembly poll on November 14. “BJP leaders led by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar are coming down to Fatorda on November 19, to participate in the party’s Vijai Sankalp rally. I have decided to kick start my campaign on November 14 from the multipurpose grounds. On the same day, the Goa Forward Party will also launch its campaign from the same ground,” he added.
Vijai said that since the Defence Minister will be coming to Fatorda on November 19, Parrikar will have to answer a lot of questions which will be posed to him on November 14 meeting. “We will ask him a host of questions and we expect Parrikar to give specific replies. On the same day, the Goa Forward Party will spell out its vision for Goa for the next five years,” he said.
Meanwhile, a day after the BJP Fatorda mandal leaders asserted that the Fatorda MLA has failed as the representative of the people, Vijai said the BJP mandal has scored a self goal, saying that many a project initiated by him was either stalled by the BJP workers or by their B team.
He said that people of Fatorda had voted the Fatorda Forward panel to victory in the 2015 Margao Municipal poll after taking cognizance of the development ushered in the constituency.
