Belagavi excise team seizes Goa liquor worth Rsâ€‰1 lakh

While Belagavi city is witnessing huge crowds on the occasion of Ganesh Festival being observed amid traditional fervour and enthusiasm, bootleggers have become active to smuggle Goa-made liquor to Belagavi region.

On Tuesday evening, Belagavi excise team arrested one person and seized Goa-made liquor worth Rs 1 lakh and two vehicles. After getting specific information and acting on direction of senior officials, a raid was conducted under the railway overbridge of Old PB Road in Belagavi.

The excise team found 87 liquor bottles of Goa-made liquor of various brands in the process of being supplied to bootleggers in the city.

One person, Subhash Dey, was arrested in this connection, while the liquor, a car and a scooter have been seized.
