PANAJI: The Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) has given the green signal for 17 beach weddings/events to be held between February and May this year at different beach-side resorts across the state.
Permissions were granted on condition that the organisers of the parties follow conditions laid down in beach carrying capacity report for beach weddings/events. Going by these conditions, the GCZMA turned down permission to erect a structure which exceeded 10 x 10 feet, though several requests in this regard were made.
The decisions were taken at the GCZMA's 193rd meeting held at the end of last month at the Secretariat under the Chairmanship of the Secretary of Environment, also the chairperson of the GCZMA.
Permissions were sought to hold beach weddings at different resorts with Holiday Inn Resort Mobor being the most popular destination with three weddings being held there. Two weddings each were given permission to be held at Planet Hollywood- Utorda beach, The Leela- Mobor Beach, and Cidade de Goa - Vainguinim Beach. And one wedding each will be held at The Marriott, The Lalit Golf and Spa Resort, Colva Beach, Joecons Shack - Benaulim beach, Pine Tree Shack, and Caravela Beach Resort - Varca Beach.

and sandbar.
Further, the GCZMA also gave permission to 38 Early Warning Dissemination System (EWDS) alert towers in coastal areas in North and South Goa on condition that prior NOC shall be obtained from Department of Forest for places /villages which are designated as turtle nesting sites.
