Below normal monsoon recorded so far

Goa witnessed a “below-normal” monsoon during the month of June even as the weatherman has consistently predicted that it will be close to normal.

PANAJIrrThe weather forecast however continues to that of “light to moderate rain or thundershowers most likely to occur at most places over Goa state during next five days.” rAccording to the weather office, as on June 30, this year the rainfall deficit for the month of June stood at 77.6mm of rainfall which has now climbed to 139.7 mm of rainfall as on July 3. rMuch of June has witnessed intermittent showers with no sustained wet spells of rain throughout the month that have left feasts like rthat of São João usually accompanied by rain without the ‘fun’. rJune and July are when the state receives the maximum rainfall and is crucial for the paddy sowing season.

Mapusa Council to reassess house tax for block of 4 yrs

The Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) has decided to undertake reassessment of house tax in Mapusa for a block of four years, beginning from 2018.
