The agitated residents were highly critical of the panchayat body for not getting the builder put up a board stating the nature of construction activity at the site.
Social activist Abhijit Prabhudesai told the media that the residents have also demanded to know whether the approach road to the project site is shown on the RP. "The government has categorically stated that there cannot be any project if there is no road. In this case, the TCP has granted technical clearance and the Benaulim panchayat body has gra
construction license," Abhijit said.
He demanded that the TCP should revoke the technical clearance if the required road width is not found on the ground.
The residents also pointed out that while the construction work has commenced at the site, the builder has failed to put in place proper sanitation facilities at the site.
Panch David Fernandes and other villagers later told the builder/contractor to stop the work till the the panchayat carries out a
site inspection.
