Benaulim p’yat inspects site amid complaints of illegal construction
Inspection carried out by the Benaulim panchayat on Tuesday.

MARGAO
The Benaulim village panchayat conducted a site inspection on Tuesday following complaints from local residents about unauthorised construction and land filling near a mobile tower site. While the inspection was not focused on the mobile tower, the panchayat examined the alleged construction activities carried out without proper permissions.

Sarpanch Glyda Rodrigues stated that the inspection was prompted by reports of tree branches being cut and a water body being filled at the site. Additionally, there was no display board indicating the nature of the ongoing construction.

The district Collectorate’s flying squad had already intervened after locals filed complaints, leading to the suspension of work. Rodrigues confirmed that the panchayat will take appropriate action based on its findings during the inspection. The case highlights concerns over unauthorized construction and environmental violations in the area.
