The Deputy Sarpanch of Benaulim village panchayat John Albuquerque has been voted out of office in a no-confidence motion.
The motion tabled by six out of the 11 members was carried at the meeting of the panchayat chaired by Sarpanch Eslina Fernandes.
The Sarpanch informed that the six signatories voted in support of the motion against the deputy sarpanch.
Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao-backed ruling group had tabled the no-trust motion immediately after the Sarpanch survived the no-trust motion tabled against her earlier this month.
The no-confidence motion was ostensibly moved by the Churchill-backed group since he was a signatory to the no-trust against the Sarpanch.
Sources said the outgoing deputy sarpanch has moved the office of the Salcete BDO objecting to the motion.
