Nationalist Congress Party MLA Churchill Alemao has said that he has asked the PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar to address the issue of low water pressure in areas of Benaulim village.

He told the media that the PWD Minister has assured that water pressure will be normalised as the PWD officials are working to connect the water line laid under the JICA project.

“I have found out from the people including panch member David Fernandes there was a water-pressure problem for around two weeks and not for two years. Immediately, I took up the matter with the PWD Minister, who has told his officials to immediately take up the work of supplying water through the JICA line,” he said, exuding confidence that the low water pressure issue will soon be resolved.

Churchill recalled that he was instrumental in laying the Guddi-Orlim pipeline during his stint as PWD Minister at a cost of Rs 16 crore. “Today, there’s hardly any water problem in the villages of Varca, Carmona, Orlim and Cavelossim which receives water from the Guddi-Orlim line. The people of Benaulim will now get water with normal pressure after the JICA line is connected,” he said.

The Benaulim MLA recalled that residents of Pedda were receiving water with low pressure over a year ago and the investigations only revealed that some hotels were illegally tapping the supply.
