Even as the official of the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO) conducted an inspection cum inquiry of the ill-fated gunpowder storage unit at Naqueri-Betul, the South Goa Disaster Management Authority and the district police have initiated their inquiries in the incident.
South Goa district Collector, Egna Cleetus, however, said any action in the incident will follow only after receiving a report from the PESO on the matter.
The South Goa district Collector, Egna Cleetus, who also heads the South Goa Disaster Management Authority as its Chairperson, is believed to have sent a detailed report on the incident to the State Disaster Management Authority.
Similarly, the police have initiated its own inquiry into the incident. Cuncolim Police Station in-charge, PI Diego Gracias has submitted a detailed report to the higher-ups, based on which the district police have compiled a report on the incident.
However, all the authorities are awaiting the report from PESO to initiate further action in the matter. The Cuncolim police have already registered a fire accident in connection with the case.
